An angry customer has accused telecom company Airtel Uganda of refusing to reimburse his money after a failed transaction.
Ronald Komakech says early this week, he sent Shs1,130,000 million for treatment to his diabetic relative through his Airtel money to MTN mobile money but the transaction was never successful.
“I called the Airtel customer care line and they told me that the transaction was pending. According to their customer care people, such transactions are given 24 hrs beyond which the customer’s (sender) money is reversed back to their account,” Komakech said in a social media post on Thursday.
“The transaction was not successful; however Airtel deducted that money from my account, including charges for sending the money,” he added.
According to Komakech, he again called the Airtel customer care on Thursday but they kept on asking him to remain patient. He went ahead to visit their offices where they told him to give it another 24 hours.
“It is now two days and five hours, I called Airtel today and they are telling me the same stories to be patient.
“How long is a telecom service provider like Airtel supposed to hold client’s money? I have asked this question, they have given me no answer,” Komakech wondered.
Efforts to reach Airtel Uganda’s communications department remain futile since their known numbers were not responded to.
