Who says art does not sell?

For those that have been doubting art’s potential to make you a millionaire, check this out.
Joseph Ntensibe, a Ugandan Postwar and Contemporary artist has sold an art piece for € 156,000 (Shs636.6million).

Measuring 150 x 199 cm, the oil on canvas piece, titled ‘Tropical Garden 2’ was sold at a Paris Exhibition over the weekend.

The identity of the buyer is still a mystery.

This is the third art piece the 66-year-old artist has sold this year at an auction, sources have intimated.

He has so far realized Shs159million and Shs265million from previous works.

The current record price for the most expensive art piece is approximately US$450 million paid for Leonardo da Vinci’s Salvator Mundi in November 2017, according to Wikipedia.

Guinness World Records lists Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa as having the highest ever insurance value for a painting. On permanent display at the Louvre in Paris, the Mona Lisa was assessed at US$100 million on December 14, 1962. Taking inflation into account, the 1962 value would be around US$830 million in 2018.
