Police in Rukungiri district is hunting for two suspects who allegedly assaulted an army officer attached to Kabongo division that resulted into his death.
The suspects are Ivan Monday and Damson Mbabazi all residents of Rushasha parish, Nyakagyeme Sub County in Rukungiri district.
The two are accused of assaulting Edwin Matsiko aged 30 on September 24, 2019 while in his bar located in Kyabugashe trading centre in Kyabugashe village, Rushasha parish, Nyakagyeme Sub County in Rukungiri district.
The police spokesperson for Kigezi region Elly Maate says that Matsiko sustained injuries on the head and the back and was rushed to Nyakibale hospital, where he was referred to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital where he was pronounced dead on September 27, 2019.
Maate says that police is currently hunting for the suspects so that they are arrested and charged accordingly.
