Three people have been shot dead in Lyantonde District.

The deceased have been identified as Justus Sendege, 27, his wife Evelyn Ekyampayire and a cousin Robert Mubiru, 40.

According to the Greater Masaka regional police spokesperson, Paul Kangave, the incident happened at around 2 am on Friday morning at Sendege’s home in Kakyaza trading centre, Kimuka sub-county.

“We visited the scene as police and recovered three cartridges of an AK47 rifle. We picked the bodies and took them to Lyantonde hospital. The motive of the assailants is yet to be established as we continue to investigate,” Kangave said.

The incident comes hot on the heels of the murder of Merina Tumukunde and Nteyireho Rushegyera Joshua who were shot dead at Nambigirwa Bridge along Kampala-Entebbe Express Highway in Katabi town council Wakiso District on Thursday night.

According to Uganda Police’s Preliminary report released on Friday morning, one AK-47 riffle No.UG POL56-3100699022697 with 27 rounds of live ammunition was recovered at the scene.

It was also established that motor vehicle reg no.UAW 543B Prado TX black in colour was found well positioned/parked aside the road at Nambigirwa bridge while the engine was still hydrauling with lights on while facing the direction of Mpala(Kampala-Entebbe road) with co-drivers door open.
