Police in Rukungiri is investigating the circumstance surrounding the death of a 72 year old man who was allegedly assaulted and died instantly.
The deceased has been identified as Leo Kyomusizi of Kafunjo cell Rwentondo ward Eastern division Rukungiri municipality and its allegedly that was assaulted by Darius Tumuhimbise 25 years.
The Kigezi regional police spokes person Elly Maate says that on Wednesday at around 5:00pm while at Akarere trading center, Nyabihinga cell, Rwentondo ward, Eastern division, Rukungiri municipality, Kyomusizi developed a misunderstanding with Tumuhimbise over yet unknown reasons. Kyomusizi chased the suspect while holding a stone, when they reached in front of Musimenta Annet’s shop, Tumuhimbise, picked a brick, turned back and hit him on the head.
The deceased fell down instantly, he was rushed to the hospital by a one Byamukama Posiano. Unfortunately he died on the way.
Maate adds that the Suspect was immediately arrested by residents and handed over to police as inquires at hand to establish the rightful cause of misunderstandings are on going.
The case has been registered at Rukungiri police station under CRB 991/2019.
