The deputy Inspector General of Police has ordered for the deployment of security personnel to guard factories and industrial parks across the country.
In a November 16 notice to all Regional and District Police Commanders, Brig. Muzeeyi Sabiiti also tasked the RPCs and DPCs to supervise the implementation of the operation code named ‘Tokoora’. The operation aimed at the ensuring safety of investors.
“Ensure that all stand alone factories are guarded by the four personnel and industrial parks by a minimum of a section for quick response,” Brig. Sabiiti says.
Also, no police bond for robbers.
“Once apprehended, implement all what we have been discussing regarding this matter,” he added.
The orders follow a revelation by President Yoweri Museveni last week that the issue of urban crime is just temporary, thus assuring them that he would ensure that permanent security is assigned in industrial parks and factories.
“Some thugs have been attacking Chinese investors but we shall defeat them. This is temporary, shallow and shall be defeated. There were attacks in Mukono and Mityana; one experienced by the Gayaza Road construction company and the recent one in Zirobwe,” Museveni said during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Zheng Zhu Quiang.
The meeting was attended by security officials, including the Chief of the Defence Forces, Gen. David Muhoozi, and Brig. Sabiiti.
