Aggrey Sekitto, who claims to be a journalist with a local online publication has appeared in court due to theft.
According to the case file, Sekitto stole a Spark Techno K7 which was supposed to be given as an award to the winners of the 2017 Media Challenge Awards.
The awards, slated for October 21, 2017 at Hotel Africana, were moved to Grand Imperial Hotel, where contestants and winners from various universities camped.
“Zura Namutebi was the lucky girl who won the Spark Techno K7 but just within a few minutes, her phone was stolen from the hotel,” a CID investigator narrated in Buganda Road Court on Monday.
Organisers reported the case to the police and immediately tracking of the phone started.
At 5:00pm on the same day, the phone was traced with Sekitto’s line active. He was then arrested.
The case was adjourned until November 19, 2018 at 8:00am
