Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Kuteesa, yesterday, October 25 delivered what was termed as a ‘Special Message’ to Rwandan President, Paul Kagame from his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni.
Although details of the meeting are still sketchy, a Ministry of Foreign Affairs source said the two discussed issues of bilateral interest and pledged to work closely to broaden and deepen corporation between Uganda and Rwanda
Mr. Kutesa had earlier met with Dr Richard Sezibera and congratulated him upon his recent appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and East African Community.
Dr Sezibera, a former Ambassador of Rwanda to the United States of America, replaces Ms Louise Mushikiwabo.
“Kutesa and Sezibera discussed issues of bilateral interest and pledged to work closely to broaden and deepen cooperation between Uganda and Rwanda,” according to the source.
The meeting between President Kagame and Mr Kutesa comes almost a week after the minister met with DR Congo leader Joseph Kabila in Kinshasa.
DR Congo media outlets also then reported that Mr Kutesa, had given President Kabila a special message from his President Museveni.
“My special message was about peace and security in the region, as well as development and cooperation,” said Mr Kutesa on October 18.
Also, then, he reassured that the leaders of the armies of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda will meet and solve the problems prevailing on Lake Albert in order to restore peace and security, and to allow the people of both countries to freely and peacefully conduct their fishing activities.
