Ten primary schools headteachers in Kabale district are in trouble over their schools poor performance in the Kabale district mock examination that were released on Tuesday.
The school head teachers are from Roboroga primary school, Birambo primary school , Kagorogoro II primary school , Kagoma primary school , Kahungye primary school , Bwera primary school , Nyamigoye primary school , Kitibya primary school , Nyamiryango primary school and Kyobugombe primary school .
Out of the 3176 candidates who sat for the 2018 mock examinations, 48 came in division one, 490 in division two, 359 in division three, 621 in division four, 1373 were ungraded while 85 candidates did not turn up for the examinations.
Patrick Besigye Keihwa the Kabale LC5 while speaking at the releasing of the Mock Examination results for Kabale district at the district Lukiiko Hall in Kabale Municipality he ordered ordered the Kabale District Education Officer, Kenneth Sabiiti Baabo to summon the headteachers of the schools to appear before him and the chief administrative officer to explain why their schools had the highest rates of failures.
He says that most of the schools whose heads were summoned had all candidates ungraded. Keihwa said that the meeting will help to find a solution so that the pupil’s performance in the coming primary living examination is improved.
Kenneth Sabiiti Baabo The Kabale District Education Officer warned primary school head teachers against engaging in other income generating activities during official working hours saying this resulted into poor performance of pupils.
“We has received reports that most head teachers use official working hours to engage themselves in their own businesses to earn side income warning that he is investigating and anyone found guilty will be charged accordingly.’ said Sabiti.
Baabo also warned head teachers against absenteeism and late coming saying that this will give room teachers and pupils to cope up the behavior hence affecting the academic performance at the end of the term.
