Soroti Grade II Magistrate Court has remanded two Notorious Conmen to Soroti Government Prison until 30 June 2018.
The accused Conmen Ekachelan Victor Alias Aayere of Namungoona Kampala and Okello Daniel of Bugolobi were Charged of obtaining Money by False Pretence according to Section 305 of the Penal Code Act.
According to prosecution, the two suspects and others at large through their Unregistered/Fake Company known as LIBERTY INVESTMENTS LTD opened office in Soroti town and conned more than 200 people in Soroti and Teso Subregion.
The victims who recorded their statements at Soroti Central Police say they were promised with abnormal profits.
One of the victims Opio Jude Thaddeus was conned of Shs120 Million.
After conning all those people, the suspects closed their office immediately and fled to Kampala where they were arrested.
“We warn the general public to be alert of similar mafias”, says Soroti RDC Isaac Kawooya.
