Oryx energies has announced a shs75 million deal for sponsoring National Rally Champion Fitidis Christakis as their new driver for the 2018 motor season.
The deal was announced by the managing director Oryx Oil Uganda ltd Mr. Peter Businge at a press launch that took place today at Oryx Lugogo bypass fuel station.
Businge said that the sponsorship is part of the Oryx energies ongoing commitment to develop motor sport and sports in general.
“We are also not forgetting the fans of motor sport in Uganda. We have noticed that Uganda has the most passionate fans on the African continent.” Said Businge.
Businge added that in Uganda, motor sport is the most followed sport which has forced them to give back to the fans through sponsoring Fitidis. He said that the sport is increasing in terms of audience something he noted worthy of sponsoring.
On receiving the cheque, Fitidis said that he and his co-driver are thrilled to be working with Oryx energies. He added that after a discussion with the company, they could see that Oryx has big plans for Fitidis racing and motor sport in general.
He urged all his fans to support Oryx energies through fueling at their stations.
Currently, Fitidis is holding a third position on the NRC 2018 calendar, standing with 140 points.
