His Eminence the Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje has urged Muslims to pray for peace and unity in and outside Uganda during Ramadhan.
This was contained in his Ramadhan message that was read by the 2nd Deputy Mufti H.E Shk Muhammad Ali Waiswa during a Press Conference held today at the UMSC Headquarters.
“Let us continue praying for peace, unity and understanding of one another” the Mufti stated in his message.
He encouraged Muslims to fast as prescribed by Allah in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Verse 183:
“O you who believe, fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you that you may learn self restraint”.
The Mufti castigated the high rate of crime in the country singling out the growing cases of kidnap, murder and demand for ransoms. He urged Ugandans to uphold the sanctity of life and respect the dignity of all humans.
“It is unfortunate for all those who are commiting this sin and very sad for us to be witnessing such in our beloved country Uganda” the Mufti stated.
He also noted that, property should not be an element of division in the country.
“We should not use the excuse of property to kill one another because no one will go with property”
The Mufti further prayed for President Museveni, his family, ministers and the entire nation.
The Mufti who is an Executive Member of the New York based Religions for Peace International is curently in Berlin German to attend the Executive committee board meeting scheduled for 18th and 19th this month.
