The Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander CP. Moses Kafeero Kabugo and KCCA Executive Director Jennifer Musisi on Monday met to discuss strategic security matters of the Kampala Metropolitan Area.
Ms Musisi applauded the KMP team for its role in ensuring peace in the city and its surrounding areas and pledged support for all the security activities.
The two principals also discussed the need for synergies and coordination in the utilization of equipment like ambulances and recovery vehicles.
They also discussed a probable coordination between the KCCA and KMP 999 patrol command centers to ease response to emergencies, full participation in the Disaster Risk and Recovery Response Plan.
They also pledged to support the KCCA enforcement teams, hold regular meetings to discuss security in Kampala, set up more organized joint traffic management systems to increase efficiency, reduce traffic jam and other related crimes.
CP Kafeero also pledged metropolitan police support to KCCA investigations and checking on illegal constructions that result in collapsing of buildings, establishment of relationships with retailers (super centers, mall, downtown) and a continued partnership with schools to identify and address crime prevention needs.
Also pledged was; strengthening security of key national attraction installations and hotels to prevent tourist-related crimes, and partnering with city councilors and other local leaders to identify the current and emerging crime trends surrounding the city and developing proactive strategies to prevent them.
CP. Kafeero says he hopes for a better and fruitful relationship so as to achieve the core objectives of preventing crime in the city.
