The United Nations (UN) ambassador Said Djinnit has promised to stick with Uganda in the fight of suppression of sexual and Gender based violence in the world.

The ambassador pointed out that gender and culture are the main causes of sexual violence which need to be looked at keenly.
“I personally believe that there is no difference between man and woman. Man and woman are equal in life. They call all do the same work in development,” noted the ambassador.
The ambassador after a brief meeting with the Ag. Director of the facility, went to the boardroom to receive a few questions from the press.
In his address, Ag Director of the facility Nathan Mwesigye Byamukama said that as an institution of the great lakes region that is hosted in Uganda, they need to sensitize and train different institutions especially the police, Judiciary, social workers and medical officers and all those that handle sexual violence in playing a central role in helping this region.
Here he urged the government to keep supporting the regional office in providing skills and changing the attitudes of the people so that sexual violence can be handled well.
“This is supposed to be a real center of excellence that provides the necessary skills in eradicating sexual violence” Said Mwesigye.
For long, heads of state in Africa were criticized for the violation of human rights including Sexual Gender Based Violence. Apparently things are changing slowly from state leaders to family heads an issue that needs more training.
