On Thursday night, iron bar bar hitmen attacked Dirk Ullerik, the Project Manager of Welthungerhilfe, a humanitarian organisation operating in Karamoja sub region.
The yet to be identified assailants attacked and injured Ullerik while at his home in Singila, Moroto Municipality at around midnight.
According to URN, the attackers were about eight in number and spoke English and Lumasaba.
Ullerik, who sustained injuries on the head and elbows, says the assailants chained him and his wife before they started pestering them for money.
“They tied my hands behind and hit me on the left chick while asking for money. When I showed them where the money was, they asked for the car keys and sped off after getting what they wanted. Am happy that they spared our lives” said Ullerik as quoted by URN.
He revealed that the assailants took off with shs11 million, his passport and the project grey pick- up registration number UBA 736V.
