FUFA President Moses Magogo has sent a warm congratulatory message to KCCA FC after making it to the CAF Champions League group stages.
Yesterday, KCCA FC managed to overcome St George FC from Ethiopia 1-0 in the return leg of the CAF Champions League at the Star Times Stadium, Lugogo in Kampala.
Striker Muhammed Shaban headed home the lone strike of the game after 46 minutes from a Mustpaha Kizza cross following a quick short corner by midfielder Muzamiru Mutyaba.
Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Robert Odongkara was in goal for St George Football Club.
KCCA becomes the first Ugandan club to qualify for the CAF Champions league group stages.
Magogo, Uganda Cranes head coach Sebastien Desabre and his assistant Mathias Lule were some of the dignitaries who turned up for the game.
In his massage, Magogo said;
I take the moment to congratulate KCCA FC for being the first Ugandan Club to reach the Group Stages of th e CAF Club Champions League.
I am super excited for the following reasons;
1.This has enhanced our case of asking for the 3rd slot for clubs to represent Uganda on the Continent.
The UPL League Champion, the Uganda Cup Holders and the runners up in the league could get the opportunity to represent the country
2. The fans, players, coaches and management are getting continental experience which will rub off in the UPL
3. The money that comes into KCCA FC is football money which will trickle down to Ugandan football beyond KCCA FC
4. Demonstration that there is no shortcut to professionalization in order to achieve sports success.
Good things are coming to Ugandan football.
I therefore wish to congratulate the Executive Director and entire KCCA who are the owners of the Club, the Chairman and entire management team at the Club, the Head Coach and the entire technical team, the Captain and the gallant Players, the Club Sponsors, Ugandan football fans who supported irrespective of their local club rivalry, the Media and everyone who made a contribution
God Bless You All
