Makerere University Vice Chancellor Professor Barnabas Nawangwe on Friday visited Winnie Mandela in South Africa and presented her honorary degree.
Mandela, an activist was awarded the honorary degree in law during the just concluded graduation ceremony at Makerere University.
Her award was received by her niece on her behalf.
Prof. Nawangwe who visited Mandela at her home in Soweto, dressed her in the honorary gown and also had a discussion for more than two hours.
Prof Nawangwe tweeted, “This afternoon, I visited Mama @WinnieMandela at her home in Soweto. I dressed Mama in her Honorary Doctorate Gown & we held a discussion for more than 2hrs. Mama Winnie spoke fondly about Makerere as a great African university. She was very grateful for the Honour Mak gave her.”
