NTV defies UCC order, live broadcasts age limit proceedings

Earlier today, Uganda communication Commission (UCC) passed a directive barring all radio and television stations from carrying out live broadcasts of contentious age limit debate citing that they are likely to create public insecurity or violence.

However, NTV has defied the order to carry out a live broadcast on the proceedings.

Through, their social media, NTV team informed viewers that they are interrupting normal programming to do a live broadcast.

Meanwhile, UCC Executive Director Godfrey Mutabazi said they shall  not hesitate to carry out enforcement for non-compliance with the order and that  any further breach will result in suspension and revocation of the station’s license in accordance with section 41 of the Uganda Communications Act 2013.
