President Yoweri Museveni who is also the Commander in Chief of the armed forces has promoted hundreds of army officers including those who commanded troops in Central Africa Republic hunting for elusive rebel leader Joseph Kony.
The promotions have been confirmed by Army spokesperson Brig.Richard Karemire who revealed that Brig. John Mugume ,who now becomes a Major General, is the highest-ranking military officer among those promoted. Mugume is the Managing Director of the Army Shop.
Col Richard Otto the UPDF contingent commander in Central Africa Republic has also been elevated to the rank of Brigadier, Col Stephen Kashure Director of Operation Wealth Creation has been promoted to Brigadier among others.
According to Brig.Karemire a total of 300 officers have been promoted in a communication made by the President a few hours ago.
