The omukama of Toro kingdom Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru has this afternoon commended Kampala international university (KIU) for promoting and understanding cultural values and customs in uganda.
Speaking to the ceremony of awarding the best performing cultures,the omukama said that culture reflects who you are.
“As students I urge you to believe in yourself.you can make it,” Omukama said.
The omukama continued to promise the University that the Toro kingdom shall continue to have a good relationship with them. It is on this note that he thanked them for the scholarships that the university gives to his subjects and Ugandans at large.
The omukama entered KIU at 1pm where he first had lunch with the KIU guild staff and media then proceeded to the cultural gala ceremony.
During the ceremony, King Oyo planted a rememberance tree in KIU as a sign of unity with all the tribes.
The deputy vice chancellor of KIU Annet Kasimbazi said that its a good moment to have more than 20 nationalities together like this.
She thanked the Guild President of the University Ndagire Fortunate together with the dean of students Karwana Jovia for the tremendous work done towards achieving the final 2 days.
The vice chancellor of KIU Dr. Muhammad Mpezamihingo credited the University management for enabling KIU to be the only university with a teaching hospital in East Africa.
