UACE results released, females outshine males

Today, Education Minister, Janet Kataaha Museveni has released last year’s Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) results.

The release Ceremony has taken place at the Office of the Prime Minister in Kampala.

According to the Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) Executive Secretary,Daniel Odongo, 104,234 candidates registered for UACE IN 2016, compared to 101, 268 in 2015, meaning total candidature increased by 2.9%.

Economics and Science subjects were poorly done whereby Biology was the worst performed subject with 40.8% obtaining principle pass ‘E’.

During the release, Minister Janet Museveni revealed that overall, females performed better than males as many candidates qualify for university and tertiary institutions.

Meanwhile, results of 64 candidates from 11 education centers are being withheld. This is a significant drop from 279 cases.
