The Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament, Catherine Ndamira Atwakire, has donated 500 Kilogrammes of flour to chapati vendors in Kabale district and requested them to form an association that will help to unite them and promote their products.
Atwakire, who was addressing chapatti vendors at Kabale Primary School in Kabale Municipality, promised to deliver the floor in this week. The legislator noted that when the vendors are united, it will very easy for leaders to lobby and support them.
Atwakire also said the association will help them to share ideas on how to develop their business as well as looking for market of their products.
“Start small in order to fight unemployment among the youth,” she told Watchdog Uganda, noting that most youth in Kabale town have the ability to make cash out of selling Chapati but have no starting capital. She promised to uplift them, but encouraged them to work tooth and nail to be prosperous in future.
“A bright tomorrow belongs to those who ignore today’s bed for the future,” Atwakire noted.
The vendors led by Ibrahim Ariho, John Bosco Tumukunde, Augustine Saturday and Victor Mujuni among others commended Atwakire for supporting them. They said the association will help foster their business through acquiring loans and sharing ideas. Muhammad Mugisha was elected as the chairperson of Kabale Chapati Vendors Association.
