City Hall Court Grade One Magistrate Patrick Talisuna has charged a man for allegedly obtaining money from unsuspecting woman whom he had promised a slot in Local Defence Unit (LDU).
Its alleged that Benjamin Kiprono 29, a security guard and resident of Kamwokya on September 27, 2018 at Kamwokya defrauded Shs250,000 from Winnie Namataka by falsely promising to help her get recruited into the Local Defence Unit using his various connections to highly placed people in the army.
Kiprono, however, failed to keep his end of the bargain. This prompted the complainant to lodge a concern and eventually his consequent arrest.
Having presented reasonable grounds for his release, the suspect was granted a shs1 million non cash bail and the case adjourned to 3rd November 2018 for mention.
