Forum for Democratic Change chairman Ambassador Wasswa Birigwa has said he cannot vote for Bobi Wine, now seen as the most sought after opposition politician in the country.

Birigwa told NBS television during a show People and Power aired on Monday night that he cannot Bobi Wine unless he got FDC party ticket.

“If he stood on FDC ticket, i would vote him but he’s not a member of the FDC so i cannot vote him,” Birigwa, speaking to Marble Twegumise went further to say slogans such as people power cannot bring anyone to power.
“You need substance,” said the FDC boss, in an interview that profiled his life, shot at his lakeside nature resort in Busabala, which neighbours Bobi Wine’s One Love Beach.

Birigwa, a wealthy politician, said Besigye was still Uganda’s best bet for president of Uganda.

” Uganda is lucky to have him,” Birigwa said. “Uganda would be a sorry story if it were not for him”.

Birigwa said that Besigye abhors violence and that made a difference between him and lots of other politicians around.

Bobi Wine is seen as a new comer who has overshadowed Kizza Besigye. The two gentlemen are however warm to each other and no one has attacked the other, even when they’ve supported different candidates for MP especially in Bugiri and Arua recently.

Besigye has also said that he doesn’t mind backing Bobi for the highest office. However FDC chairman has put strings on FDC support.

“If he’s not on our ticket, and we don’t have a candidate, then he must have an agreement with us to allign our party with him.”
