The second season of the Sports Quiz League was launched yesterday, with organisers promising ‘bigger and better.’
While announcing this year’s improved and exciting format, Leon Ssenyange, the SQL head said the league will run over six rounds – from May to October as compared to last year’s edition ran for only four months.
Also, according to Ssenyange, a total of 10 teams will participate in this year’s edition, the same as last year.

“Registration of teams shall be done online starting Monday 23rd April, 2018 to Sunday 13th May, 2018,” he said during the launch of Season II on Monday.
The launch was graced by CommonWealth Games Bronze medalist Juma Miiro. Teams, comprising seven members -five starters and two substitutes – will be required to pay a registration fee of Shs250, 000.

The league will start at a yet to be announced date at the end of May.
The teams will compete across a number of questions themed around local and international sports.

“An element added to the new season that we are very excited about is the mid-season transfer window in July. Teams will be allowed to trade members as per the competition regulations that shall be shared in due course,” Ssenyange added.
Every month shall have a round winner, complete with prize money and hampers. Unlike last year when up to eight teams took home cash prizes & hampers, these will be limited to only the top three teams this year.
Teams will accumulate points over the six rounds and the team with most points at the end of round six will be declared winner.
Expendables are the defending champion.
