By Kinyera Anthony Lakomekec

Agago district on Friday, 22nd April 2022 received over 22 tons of the food relief from the Office of the Prime Minister.

The food relief is set to target locals displaced by the ongoing invasion by the Karimojong rustlers in the affected sub-counties. The food relief include; 15 tons of maize flour and 7.5 tons of beans.

Cosmas James Okidi, the Agago Deputy Resident District Commissioner oversaw the handover of the food relief that took place at the district headquarters.

Okidi appreciated government’s effort in elevating the sub-counties that have been stretched by the Karimojong invasions and are currently, not engaged in active farming for fear of their lives.

According to Okidi, the district disaster management committee should consider households headed by widows, old people, children-headed families, and persons living with disability including households headed by persons living with HIV/AIDS.

He, however, directed the office of the Chief Administrative Officer to kick off the distribution to the rightful beneficiaries by Monday next week.

“I further made a commitment to seeing and following the distribution to dot,” he added.
