The leadership of Bukedi sub-region has highly commended President Yoweri Museveni and the NRM government for establishing an Industrial Hub in their area and pledged to cooperate and ensure the purpose of the facility is fulfilled.

“We appreciate President Museveni for the Hub meant to transform the livelihoods of the youths,” the RDC of the host district, Kibuku, Ms. Nalongo Kwesiga said.

The leaders who were taken on an inspection tour of the facility by the manager of the Hub, Teddy Ouma, particularly appreciated the bakery section that is ready for use, commenting that it was a fast one that would immediately rescue the youths who complete their training.

“This is a quick one because one can immediately start his or her business after getting the skill,” they commented.

The remarks were made on Wednesday at Bukedi sub-region Zonal Industrial hub during a meeting between the Director Of Industrial Hubs and Presidential Projects at State House, Eng. Raymond Kamugisha with the leaders of Bukedi in Lwatama Sub-County, Kibuku County in Kibuku district.

The districts of Bukedi sub-region include Butaleja, Budaka, Butebo, Kibuku, Pallisa, Tororo and Busia.

Eng. Kamugisha, who represented the State House Comptroller, Madam Jane Barekye, strongly advised the leaders not to discriminate learners during the enrolment exercise but to select those who are capable irrespective of their political shades.

“Our project is transparent. That is why you have been called to the site. If there are youths with special needs, please, include them. Don’t leave them out and don’t select the youths according to political leanings,” he said.

He informed the leaders of the criteria to form committees to do the selection and pledged to provide them with proper guidelines.

He urged them to embrace the project and work together as a team in order to transform society. He added that other components of the training will include Physical Education and Mind set Change to make the youths productive citizens.

The Senior Private Secretary to the President on Political and Youth Affairs, Mr. Godfrey Longa, asked Bukedi leaders to embrace the program. He thanked the electorate of the region for voting President Museveni and NRM candidates.

“You voted for issues not propaganda and noise,” he noted.

The representative of the Permanent Secretary (PS), Ministry of Local Government, Mr. Julius Muhairwe, emphasised the need for leaders to have mindset change for better results.

The representative of the CAO Kibuku, Mr. Bashir Nangheje, told leaders to promote the program adding that the Hub is for the whole of Bukedi subregion not Kibuku district alone.
