Ugandans have been challenged to start thinking of giving thanks to God now rather than wait to accumulate wealth or grow very old.
The challenge was made by the Kishariro Parish priest Rev. Fr. Oscar Ahimbisibwe during a thanksgiving ceremony of a Radio Ankole fan Mary Bahagura of Kishariro Nyamunuka Town council Ntungamo District on Sunday.
Rev. Fr. Ahimbisibwe noted that people have a tendency of organizing thanksgivings after they have clocked particular ages adding that others do so after accumulating a certain amount of wealth or attaining something of great value to them.
He however, said this is wrong because one should give thanks even with the little they have, explaining that only having life is enough for one to thank God.
In her words, Bahagura thanked everyone for supporting her towards the ceremony asking them to keep up the love they showed her and her family.
She requested that the money collected from the thanksgiving be forwarded towards the construction of the newly created Christ the King Catholic Church in Nyamunuka Town council where she works as a treasurer.
Bahagura was thanking God for having lived a healthy life in a ceremony she used to pray for her late husband and relatives as well as entering a new house.
Kajara County Mp Hon. Timuzigu Michael Kamugisha attended the function organized at Bahagura’s home and contributed Shs100,000 on top of participating in the bidding exercise.
Others were Ntungamo District Vice Chairperson Ampiire Sakina Imam, Radio Ankole fans led by Yasin Magurukane and residents of Kishariro among others.
Shs3.3 million was collected.
