A total of 424 people have been arrested during a major operation on criminals terrorising Kampala city.
The crackdown that took four hours was carried out by Kampala Metropolitan Police on Wednesday.
The operation was targeting criminals that have been snatching phones, handbags, necklaces and other crimes.
It was carried out in the areas of Katwe, Nsambya, Kisenyi, Old Kampala, Namirembe road, Wandegeya, Kabalagala, Jinja Road, city centre, Nakivubo channel and the surrounding areas.
“Some of the suspects we have arrested had court bails, others police Bond, these we shall immediately take them to the various Courts or police stations that need them,” Kampala Metropolitan Police said in a statement posted on its Facebook Page.
“We are going to screen them before processing their case files. They are likely to appear in court tomorrow. We urge members of the public to be vigilant.”
