President Yoweri Museveni has paid a visit to sick Rwenzururu Kingodm Queen Mother Christine Biira Mukirania who is currently admitted at Case Hospital in Kampala.

The president made the courtesy call on Saturday before flying out to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia for the 32nd African Union Summit.

Museveni briefly talked to the Queen mother and some family members and health officials privately.

Queen Christine Mukirania is the mother of; the current King of the Rwenzururu Kingdom Wesley Charles Mumbere Iremangoma and State Minister for Agriculture Christopher Kibazanga.

In November 2016, the Rwenzururu King was arrested following a security forces’ raid on his palace in Kasese town and overrun it leading to death of over 100 people.

Upon his arrest, Mumbere was charged among others with murder, treason, terrorism, arson and malicious damage at Jinja High Court.

He was consequently detained before being granted bail on February 6 the following year with tough conditions, including not setting foot in Rwenzori sub-region.

He was restricted to move in only three districts of Kampala, Wakiso and Jinja.
