Jennifer Musisi has on Friday, December 14, signed out of office, ending seven years as the head of Kampala Capital City Authority.

Although she has been lauded and credited for transforming the capital city, the minister for Kampala, Betti Kamya believes the outgoing executive director will not be missed.

At a weekly press conference at Uganda Media Centre on Thursday, Kamya said Musisi has left many people in the system who can run the system and perfectly fill her gap.

“As far as I know KCCA is going to continue serving the people of Kampala. Musisi has gone but for the meantime her deputy will perform the work she has been doing and I believe there no one will feel her absence,” the minister said.

According to Kamya there will no acting KCCA Executive Director until the President points a person in this position.

Musisi resigned on October 15.

The Musisi KCCA legacy

Musisi is a Ugandan lawyer and public administrator.

She was appointed KCCA executive Director on April 15, 2011 by President Museveni following the creation of new institution which replaced Kampala City Council (KCC). In 2014 she was given another contract of three years, running from 2014 to 2017. Because of the great work she showed, her contract was renewed from April 15, 2017 to April 14, 2020. However on October 15, she handed in her resignation before her third contract expired.

In the period of seven years she has led KCCA, a lot of success has been registered in both the authority itself and Kampala city.

Musisi introduced specialized services in KCCA health centers including renal Unit in Kisenyi health center, constructed maternity units in both Kawaala and Kitebi health center, established the Kampala Sunday street market, she constructed 2000-capacity Wandegeya market.

Musisi procured and renovated USAFI market, she also initiated Kampala street naming, house numbering and addressing project, she constructed Philip Omondi Astros turf stadium in Uganda, also she revamped the KCCA Football Club into a continental powerhouse.

She has constructed and renovated roads and street in Kampala, introduced solar street lights and revamping of Nakivubo water channel which was a problem in Kampala.

However in her tenure KCCA enforcement force has left a bad spot with enforcement agents manhandling locals leading to people losing their lives.

“I have done what I have done and I have set the standard of this authority, my achievements speak louder. However now I am going to be a house wife for a while; I will cooking and also visiting beaches,” said Musisi while addressing journalists at the farewell party she organized for the on Tuesday at KCCA Employment Service Bureau and Skills Employment  Center Nakasero.
