Doctors at Mulago Hospital together with Charles Muhangi’s family doctor have revealed that the city property mogul died of  heart failure.

Muhangi was on Thursday morning found lying dead in bed at his posh residence in Buziga.

The postmortem report released Thursday evening by a team of pathologists led by Police Director of medical services Moses Byaruhanga, revealed that there was nothing peculiar concerning the former rally champion’s death.

“It was a natural death, we have not found anything peculiar. But we have been told that he was diabetic,” Dr. Byaruhanga told Daily Monitor.

However, although the postmortem report indicates otherwise, some people still suspect that Muhangi was killed.

“When we met, Muhangi was in a jovial mood, talking about how he had won the court case for his Qualicel Bus Terminal that had dragged on for 14 years. I can tell you that Muhangi was killed. Let us wait for the investigations,” said Charles Karangwa, who met Muhangi at Café Javas a night before his death.

By the time of his death, Muhangi was at loggerheads with two of his fellow businessmen Drake Lubega and Mansour Matovu over ownership of a prime city property.

A requiem mass will be held on Friday at 5pm at All Saint Cathedral, Nakasero before an overnight vigil at his home in Buziga. On Saturday, the former champion’s body will be taken to his ancestral home in Bumbiare, Bushenyi where he will be laid to rest on Sunday, December 9.
