Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has partnered with Sports Broadcasting as they announced the acquisition of the major commercial and media rights for the Uganda Premier League (UPL), FUFA Big League and the FUFA Uganda Cup.
The four year agreement starts from 1st June 2018 ending 31st July 2022 valued at US $ 3 million.
The announcement was made on Thursday, 25th January 2018 at Achwa Hall, Serena International Hotel, Kampala.
The FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo graced the momentous occasion alongside the chief guest Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi (State Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities).
Eng. Magogo was also flanked by the Director of the Sports Broadcasting Brutus Kagingo, Dr Naamara Warren (Chairman, Sports Broadcasting), Dennis Mbidde (Managing Director, Sports Broadcasting), Chairman FUFA Super League (Arinaitwe Rugyendo), Zubair Ggaliwango (National Council of Sports), UPL board members, FUFA Executive Committee member Rogers Byamukama and FUFA Staff.
This is an important milestone in the history of Ugandan football that will see Ugandans enjoying both live games of the 1st and 2nd Division Leagues not forgetting the Ugandan Cup.
Ugandans can look forward to watching all the 240 games of the Uganda Premier league from the comfort of their homes, work places and hangouts.
It is anticipated that in the years to come, this innovation will change the way Ugandans view and consume not just football but Ugandan Sport in general.
Sports Broadcasting is enthusiastic about reaching this agreement with FUFA and UPL because it aligns with the company strategy to develop and share local sports content, build football awareness and support for Ugandan sport in medium term, and East African sports in the long term.
Meanwhile, Azam airing rights ends on 31th May 2018.
