Hundreds of football lovers attended a Church funeral service at Namirembe Cathedral on Tuesday morning to pay their final respects to fallen Uganda Cranes Legend Timothy Ayiekoh.

The Church service led by the Namirembe Vicar General Rev Festo Kalungi was attended by the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo, CEO Edgar Watson, NCS represented by Dr Patrick Bernard Ogwel, Ex Internationals, Football Coaches, Players, Administrators, family and football fans.

In his message to the mourners, the FUFA President thanked the late for his contribution to the game of football in Uganda as a player and coach.

‘Amidst the fact that he had Kenya Origins, Ayiekoh decided to play for Uganda and he was part of the Uganda Cranes team which featured at the 1978 AFCON final in Ghana’said Eng. Magogo

The Vicar called upon the football fraternity to work together to develop the game of football in Uganda.

‘We all need to come together to develop the game of football in Uganda. You should join Eng. Moses Magogo to enhance on what he has contributed to move the game to another level’ said Rev Kalungi.

He also urged the football family to turn to God in their deeds by finding time to go to the Holy places like Churches and Mosques.

In addition, he also argued active football players to use and save their money wisely so that they avoid the humiliation later on when time gets them in the dark corner.

The former FUFA General Secretary Godfrey Kisekka represented retired football administrator Bidandi Ssali while Paul Ssali and Tom Lwanga who played with Ayiekoh also made moving eulogies about the departed hero.

Stone Kyambadde who is the Chairman of the Uganda Football Coaches Association delivered the condolence message on behalf of their members at the service organized by FUFA in memory of Ayiekoh.
