There were celebrations at Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) on Thursday as news reached the national broadcaster offices that the board chairman Mr Simon Kaheru had been appointed director of public affairs and communications at Coca Cola Beverages Africa – Uganda.
Mr Kaheru who was appointed UBC board chairman by ICT minister Frank Tumwebaze has been accused by several sections of acting as “managing director” of UBC which has brought about conflict at the national broadcaster.
Whispers from UBC say Kaheru, always full of energy but with less work to do, first asked for an office at UBC something unheard of before. When he got one, he got hands on, and often bulldozed and armtwisted the managers including suspending the MD.
Now the staff say Kaheru might do so well since now he has a job to keep him busy and important.
