Cancer snatches another Ugandan journalist

Penny Tinditina, a former Radio One journalist and presenter, has succumbed to cancer. Penny has joins other journalists including Rosemary Nankabirwa and Francis Bbaale who recently succumbed to the killer disease.

Penny, wife of Alex Jakana, died from lung cancer in Seattle in USA after a fight with the ailment for the past one year.

Her husband broke the sad news to BBC journalist Alan Kasujja on Thursday morning. Alex said the family is copying with the sad news fairly well, including the children.

Jakana is also a former journalist with BBC but now works with the charity of the technology power couple Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Penny has left behind three children – Darren, Dione and Divine.
