Government to draft a policy to properly reward ‘Presidential Handshakes’

The Minister of Finance, Matia Kasaija has revealed that government will draft a policy on the payment of money to public Officials who would have carried out tasks that deserve financial rewards.

While appearing before the Parliamentary Committee on Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises(COSASE) led by Abdu Katuntu yesterday, Kasaija told MPs that the policy will avoid a repeat of the scenario that saw 42 government officials get receive shs6 billion as a presidential reward after settling a tax dispute against Tullow, Heritage oil firms.

Kasaija was making a final submission to the parliamentary probe committee.
