One of the best schools in Uganda, Kampala Parents School (KPS) has joined the celebrations to Mark World Wildlife Day.
KPS is one of the schools that sent representatives at the World Wildlife Celebrations going on at Uganda Museum. Smartly dressed pupils clad in an alluring school uniform took part in a walk from Independence memorial in Kampala to the Uganda museum on Friday morning.
Atukunda Mitchell, a pupil from Kampala Parents says: “The World Wildlife Day is a good way to encourage the youth and children the importance of wildlife and conservation”. The pupils were led by their teacher Kirabo Ruth. Teacher Kirabo told our reporter that in line with the day’s theme of mainstreaming youth in wildlife conservation, KPS wants this conservation spirit to be inculcated in the children at an early age.
World Wildlife Day is celebrated annually on 3rd March. Deputy Prime Minister Moses Ali officiated at the function, and he was joined by Tourism ministers Ephraim Kamuntu and Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi as well as Uganda Wildlife Authority executive director Dr Andrew Sseguya, Uganda Tourism Board’s deputy CEO John Ssempebwa, Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) executive director James Musinguzi, among others.
This year’s global theme is ‘Listen to the young voices’ and the national theme is ‘Mainstreaming the youth in Wildlife conservation’.
