A couple of weeks ago Dr Tanga Odoi was crying for money when the NRM Secretary General Justine Lumumba arbitrarily chose to use the money on whoever the she wanted. However it seems the Lord has answered his prayers.
The ongoing process of picking the nine members to represent Uganda in the East African Legislative Assembly has given his office on plot 12 Kyadondo some financial relief.
The EALA race has attracted a lot of interest among NRM members who have flooded the party’s electoral commission offices since Monday. The party is looking for only six candidates.
Although the Central Executive Committee of the NRM party will vet the aspirants and come out with the list to present to the party, Odoi said aspirants have to part with sh2 million for expressing interest.
He however emphasized that the money is not refundable.
In the two days exercise, Odoi has registered 44 aspirants, which means he has collected sh88 million.
