In a grand ceremony commemorating Uganda’s 62nd Independence Day Anniversary (Uhuru) in the border Busia district, His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni conferred the prestigious Silver Medal Award upon Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Johnson Monday Agaba.

D/SSP Agaba is currently serving as the Jinja City-based Kiira Regional CID chief, deputized by Caroline Ipugau.

This esteemed recognition honours SSP Agaba’s exceptional service and unwavering dedication to the Uganda Police Force.

Agaba’s illustrious career spans over two decades, marked by numerous high-profile investigations and supervisions that have significantly contributed to pacifying violent organized crimes in Uganda.

Notable cases include Matthew Kirabo’s case (a medical student who murdered his girlfriend), Suzan Magara case, Sylvia Nagirinya’s murder, and the assassination of the NRM Chairman in Ntoroko.

As a devoted spiritual individual and family man, SSP Agaba embodies compassion, integrity, and moral guidance.

His educational background, including a Master’s in Business Administration and an honorary Doctorate of Humanity, has equipped him with strategic thinking, problem-solving, and leadership expertise.

Agaba recognizes the Uganda Police Force’s leadership, particularly Director CID AIGP Tom Magambo and the former AIGP Grace Akullo, for having played a pivotal role in fostering an environment conducive to his growth.

His immediate supervisors’ trust and guidance have empowered him to excel in his responsibilities.

“…I am extremely humbled and this award will motivate me further to continue serving humanity diligently without fear or favour even in difficult and trying situations…”,he remarked in a brief interview.

SSP Agaba’s remarkable career demonstrates that effective security leadership is not just about enforcing laws but also about fostering hope, stability, and humanity.

His selfless service has created a safer Uganda, enabling citizens to thrive.

The Uganda Police Force stands tall, ever vigilant and ready to serve, protect, and uncover the truth through meticulous investigations, upholding justice and humanity as the cornerstones of a harmonious society.

Agaba is a remarkable individual with an impressive career in law enforcement. Born on May 26, 1978, in Rwimi Village, Bunyaruguru District, he joined the police force as a constable in October 1998.

After completing his Bachelor of Commerce degree from Makerere University, he underwent a cadet course in 2007

Agaba’s educational background is quite impressive. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Management from Nkumba University, which he earned in 2016.

Recently, in 2023, Agaba was awarded an honorary doctorate degree in Humanity from the prestigious University Zoe Life Theology College in Philadelphia.

University Zoe Theology College in Philadelphia is an interdenominational theological school that offers various programs in theology, including Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and Doctorate degrees.

On what motivated Agaba to become a police officer, unlike others who always say to serve his country, he confesses it was purely for employment opportunities.

“…although I was looking for a paying job to help myself and my family but in the end, I have solved more cases than I have had cups of coffee…” Agaba quips.

It’s worth noting that Agaba’s story highlights the various reasons people join the police force.

While some may be motivated by employment, some are driven by a sense of duty or desire to serve their community.
