Kaliro LC5 Chairman Elijah Dhikusooka Kagoda has lambasted Bulamogi MP Sanon Bwiire and Kaliro Woman MP Brenda Namukuta for allegedly blocking him from addressing President Yoweri Museveni during the recent Mega Patriotic Crusade in Kaliro organized by Universal Apostles Fellowship Church of Righteousness headed by Prophet David Isanga.
Appearing on 89.4 NBS Radio’s Ensi Ne’byayo show hosted by Sir Grace Mwesigwa, Kagoda accused the MPs of seeking political mileage instead of addressing real issues affecting the people of Kaliro.
Kagoda criticized Bwiire’s presentation before the president, saying it lacked substance on key district issues. He also castigated Namukuta for raising the issue of wetlands despite the president’s earlier pronouncement exempting Busoga and Kigezi regions.
The Lc5 Chairman commended Prophet David of Universal Apostles Fellowship Church of Righteousness for promoting patriotism and development and for inviting HE YK Museveni as Chief Guest to graceoff an historical event of a transformative indigenous gospel with it’s founding stone in Kaliro, but expressed disappointment at the MPs’ conduct, terming it “disrespectful” to deny him a platform to address the president.
The controversy has sparked debate on the role of leaders in representing their constituents’ interests.
