NALI, KYANKWANZI: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has met and held discussions with the Mufti of Zimbabwe also the head of the Country’s Fatwa department, His Eminence Sheikh Ismail Ibn Musa Menk.

Mufti Menk who paid a courtesy call on the President is in the country to preach to the youth a message of Love, Peace, harmony and living together as brothers and sisters.

The meeting took place on Tuesday at the sidelines of the NRM MPs-elect retreat at Kyankwanzi State Lodge.

President Museveni welcomed Mufti Menk to Uganda and said that the NRM government has since its inception, preached unity in diversity which is in line with Mufti Menk’s preaching of peace, love and harmony.

“I will give you a card of NRM. It is our ZANU-PF of Zimbabwe. Before we came to power, people were killing each other because of religious and tribal differences, but we preached your line of unity and respecting each other,” President Museveni said.

The President invited Mufti Menk to enjoy his stay in Uganda that is gifted by nature with good weather, rains, fertile land etc unlike Zimbabwe and other parts of Africa, which are dry most of the time.

During the meeting, Mufti Menk prayed for the President and the country.

A motivational speaker and preacher of peace and love, Mufti Menk told the President that their mission and focus is to build bridges among divided communities around the world while preaching harmony.

“We have seen enough, so we want to build harmony. Like the holly books say, ‘Do not turn my teachings against me by killing one another”. Mufti Menk said.
Mufti Menk who revealed that he went through Christian colleges said that people regardless of their tribes, race or religion need to leave in harmony and bond together.

“I find Uganda similar to Zimbabwe because we also have a strong Inter-Religious council and so I feel happy to be here,” he said.

Ismail Ibn Musa Menk, also known as Mufti Menk, is a Muslim cleric from Zimbabwe and head of the country’s fatwa department. He has been named one of The 500 Most Influential Muslims in the world by the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute.

The meeting was attended by the State Minister for the Elderly and Disabled persons Hajati Sarah Kanyike among others.
