Unidentified kidnappers holding a four-year-old child in Mbarara district are demanding for a ransom of Shs 6 million to release him or else end his life.
The minor has been identified as Davidcovich Musimenta, a resident of Ruti trading centre in Nyamitanga division in Mbarara municipality.
Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region police spokesperson, says the minor was kidnapped on November 8. He says the minor’s mother; Elizabeth Akacungurwa reported the kidnap of her child the same day.
According to Kasasira, the kidnappers have contacted the family asking for a ransom of Shs 6 million. He says the kidnappers are threatening to get rid of the child unless the ransom is paid.
Cases of kidnap were rampant last year with most of them resulting in the death of the victims even where the ransom has been paid in some cases.
