Ruth Nankabirwa has said she still has 25 more years as Kiboga District Woman Member of Parliament.
Nankabirwa who also serves as the Government Chief Whip has been in Parliament for more than 20 years.
She made the revelation last week during President Yoweri Museveni’s Wealth Creation tour in Lyantonde.
“But we as MPs and Ministers are also still here. We aren’t going anywhere. In my case I have so far been MP for four terms and I still need five more terms where after I will retire and someone else takes over,” Nankabirwa said.
She went on to assure Ugandans that President Yoweri Museveni is here to stay and he will be Uganda’s ruler as long as he lives.
“We changed the Constitution and scrapped age limit. That’s a done deal. There is nothing you can do about that. We have delivered services and Mzee will be here for as long as he lives. Nothing can terminate his presidency. Let me assure you. For Mzee everything is sorted.”
Many in the crowd indifferently looked on as Nankabirwa bragged about her political invincibility.
As she bragged, other equally long-serving MPs like Kabula’s James Kakoza, Nakaseke’s Syda Bumba and senior politicians wildly cheered her.
