The security authorities in Ntungamo District have threatened to arrest and apprehend whoever is found without a National Identification card because they are a security threat in the district.

Speaking to managers of hotels and restaurants during a customer care and general hygiene meeting held at the district council hall on Thursday July 4,2019, the Ntungamo District Internal Security Officer (DISO) Tandeka Apollo directed them to start registering all clients with National identification cards for security purposes.

Tandeka revealed that some people without proper identification papers have ill motives especially those from neighboring country of Rwanda.

He warned all hotel and restaurant managers to stop receiving clients who do not possess identification documents because they also risk being closed noting that some hotels have been used to harbour vagrant people or thieves during the day.

Tandeka also asked them to avoid allowing musicians to perform in their gardens before showing them a clearance letter from the police and always scrutinize meeting being held in such hotels for security reasons.

The Ntungamo District tourism officer Aturinda Robert asked them to improve on hygiene and sanitation and training staffs for customer care services.

The manager Ankole Resort and Spa Bizibu David advised them to tighten the security of their hotels by the use of CCTV cameras and skilled security personnel at the gates.

The assistant district health officer environmental health Nyeete Japheth emphasized on regular medical check-ups of staff and asked them to always consider gender and people with disabilities to cater all categories of people.

The meeting was organized by the district tourism officer and it attracted 20 hoteliers.
