Days after Ugandans have concluded the voting processes for their local council one chairpersons across the country, Uganda Muslim supreme council has thanked Muslims for turning up in big numbers to vote for their leaders and also for contesting in concluded elections.
Speaking to the media at in his office at Uganda Muslim supreme council, Hajji Nsereko Mutumba who expressed happiness to the way Muslims turned up for elections.
‘’First of all am congratulating Ugandans for passing peacefully through the recently concluded LC1 elections and I specifically thank Muslims for coming-out this time to intervene in the struggle to get leadership’’,said Mutumba.
Mutumba appealed to the elected Muslims in the LC 1 positions to avoid segregation in choosing their cabinets though some were against the Muslims.
Hajji Mutumba again called upon the elected leaders to be faithful as they take on their leadership and avoid involving in land scandals and avoid conniving with criminals.
‘’I argue Muslims that after getting leadership, unlike others don’t segregate people while choosing cabinet to work with because you were voted by all the people’’,added Mutumba.
More than 17 million registered voters countrywide went to polls on Tuesday 10th June 2018 to vote for their Local Council I chairpersons in 60,800 villages after a 12-year wait , except in the newly created villages that did not participate in concluded elections.
