Rukungiri victim died of a gunshot not stone-postmortem

Edson Nasasira was last Wednesday shot dead in Rukungiri as police tried to disperse crowds opposed to age limit removal.

After allegedly being hit by a stray bullet, Kigezi Region RPC Denis Namuwoza issued an initial report saying basing on the size of the wound found on the deceased, Nasasira had been hit by a stone.

However, according to the postmortem report from Karoli Lwanga Hospital  issued today indicates that Nasasira  died of gunshot wound/injury.

On examination of the body, a circular bullet entry wound on the left nasal bone about 0.5cm in diameter was found.

It was also discovered that the deceased had an exit wound in his right occipital region measuring 3cm by 2cm.

The report was done by doctors; Gingo Stephen an obstetrician, Luyimbazi Julius and Mbiine Ronald both general surgeons.

Meanwhile, Nasasira was laid to rest last Friday amidst tears and sorrow as mourner turned up putting on red ribbons as a sign of protesting against the contentious age limit bill.

During funeral service, the minister for Security Gen. Henry Tumukunde gave the parents of the deceased shs10 million on behalf of president Yoweri Museveni who in his message regretted the incident.
