‘’A person who wins a medal for his country deserves to be rewarded.’’ Those were some of the words that were said by Kampala’s city tycoon Sam Buchanan as he rewarded the Uganda National boxing team the bombers.

Hill Water

The ceremony took place at the MTN arena Lugogo where Mr. Buchanan gave  ugx2m to  Muzamir kakande who won Ugandas only gold medal, ugx 1m to each of the two silver medalists , super heavy weight David Ayiti and bantam weight Geofrey Kakeeto all from the UPDF boxing club.

The medals were won from the African Confederation boxing championship that took place in Congo Brazavile where Uganda was uplifted to a 3rd position in Africa.

During this ceremony Mr. Buchanan was so happy for the Bombers performance.

‘’You were cheated, played on empty stomachs but still you managed to get Ugandans meals’’ said Buchanan.

On the same function former Ugandan boxer as well as president of the boxing federation Mr. Godfrey Nyakaana thanked all who managed to help the team to achieve the success.

‘’Bombers have made me proud. But I must thank all stakeholders more especially Mr. Buchanan who managed to come to our rescue and paid in UDS800.’’ Said Nyakaana.

Nyakaana went ahead to lament that all boxers who had reached the final stage could not play because Uganda was being demanded money; More so fees for the hotels.

From this function, Mr. Buchanan went ahead to throw a heavy party to the bombers. The party took place at his home in Muyenga where they feasted and enjoyed music from the live band.
