State House released a short statement and photographs of the meeting at President Museveni’s second country home, Kisozi in Gomba district, between Museveni and Kasese leaders led by MP Winnie Kiiza.
The dialogue was over pacifying Kasese and releasing Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbeere.
However, many people observed the odd man out in the photographs and wondered what the Bukedea Woman MP who also belongs to the FDC party was doing with Museveni and Kasese leaders in a Rwenzori meeting.
In one of the prominent pictures, President Museveni is seen giving Leader of Opposition in Parliament Winnie Kiiza a reassuring pat on the shoulder. On the other side, is Anita Among, also holding the hand of Kiiza, the Woman MP for Kasese. Anita hails from Teso region.
Watchdog understands that Anita and Winnie are close friends. However, that is not reason enough to bring friends along into serious ethnic dialogues.
Our website has however established that Among, although she is a member of the Forum for Democratic Change, is the newest power broker in the opposition for Mr Museveni.
This might have been a wrong photo released to the public, but, Anita has been backing president Museveni on a number of assignments.
Anita who was recruited by Gen Salim Saleh, landed herself on Museveni’s facilitated agents with the help of Major Nakalema who was then drawing the President’s final delegation on a number of trips.
Although President Museveni and MP Kiiza have been on talking terms for a long time, according to our sources, Ms Anita helped to convince Kiiza to open room for dialogue with Museveni, who only a couple of days ago, refused to talk to a parliament committee investigating Kasese conflicts, citing sub judice.
However, when Anita assured the President that Winnie’s team was ready to talk, she had to ensure she sits through the deliberations and even appeared in photographs (ill advised).
Anita who has been who convinced Museveni that she can mobilise friendly opposition colleagues to cease fire against Museveni, has been bankrolled by State House to do her work. It is for that reason money handlers at State House ensure she is on the President’s travel list.
“Just like MPs Peter Ogwang and Kenneth Omona moved with President in the last term, thanks to former PPS Akello Grace, so is Anita now,” said the source.
“The difference is, Ogwang and Omona are NRM, but, Anita might just cross in due course,” adds the source.
Anita who made it Parliament this year, but had previously tussled it out and lost to former Minister of Internal Affairs Rose Akol, has been to South Sudan twice with President Museveni, according to our sources.
