A LETTER TO THE PEOPLE OF MUKONO MUNICIPALITY
Greetings to you all,
I thank and glorify God for our lives.
I see everyone is trying his/her best to defeat COVID-19, Thank u so much!
We thank our frontline soldiers the medics who we know are working with little or no equipments and protective gears. We thank the silent facilitors of health, the ambulance drivers and other support staff in the Medical field, Asante sana.
The medical experts have told us that the only way for Mankind to survive this pendemic is to isolate your family from others. But as we hide a bit from Coronavirus by staying home, let’s not forget the hind doors that crop in other natural deaths.
Hypertension and its associated kind of ranges gor example seems to be a major killer these days.Only this Week in Mukono we have lost the Former Ssekiboobo, Alex Benjamin Kigongo Kikonyogo and Mrs Sarah Makumbi of Butebe, in exactly the same way; having people collapsing and dying suddenly!
Am also saddened by the brutality with which the soldiers,LDUs and Police are herding us. It quite abusard that law enforcers are behaving exactly like a cruel herdsman who harass and beat up his cows.
In the prevailing circumstances we dont have much to do because it seems the security employees torture as a strategy to get people stay at home. They are frustrated for we dont have capacity to treat this disease if it breaks out and bring many people down.
It is true that some of our people are quite obstinate when it comes to following guidelines AND it is this type of behavior we need to change. Don’t stay away from the streets because you fear the soldiers, stay in isolation because its the right thing to do.
From the speech by one of the LDU- Commander circulating in the social media, its clear that those soldiers on our streets are just carrying out what they were ordered to do.
Be aware that the gun weilding men moving around villages have instructions to shot and kill you. At the right time we shall bring those people to account BUT for now stay away from them.
I continue to appeal to you to constitute yourselves into neighbourhood cells called Ujama cells and through these cells share both love and the little you have with your neighbours.
I also request you, not to doubt the existence of Coronavirus in Uganda for this attack on human race is real and no one knows for sure when we shall be through this…This is the time to let the Almighty God reign.
Once again,I request you to continue with keeping distance from one another, avoid crowds and wash your hands as many times as possible. Also teach yourself not to touch your face.
Above all, lets go to God with repetence and pray for the healing of the World.
May God Lord bless you all.
Bakireke Nambooze Betty (MP)
